A Jellyfin music player for Android

Stream your own Jellyfin library, next to the music on your phone.

Shuttle Music is an Android music player that connects straight to your Jellyfin server. Your albums, artists and playlists show up in the same library as the files on your phone, so you don't switch apps to switch sources. I make it on my own, and it has no ads and no account of its own.

Connect to Jellyfin

  1. Install Shuttle Music from Google Play.
  2. Open Settings, choose to add a source, and pick Jellyfin.
  3. Enter your server address, including the port (8096 by default) and http:// or https://, then your username and password.
  4. Let the first sync finish. Your music library is then browsable and searchable like any other.

The app asks for your server login only to talk to your server. It stays on your device.

What works

  • Streaming from your server, with FLAC and Opus playing natively.
  • Gapless playback, a queue you can reorder, and your place saved between sessions.
  • A 10-band equalizer with presets, a preamp and ReplayGain by track or album.
  • Android Auto, Chromecast, home-screen widgets and a sleep timer.
  • Playlists, smart playlists, and artwork from your server.
  • Your phone's own files alongside the server, in one library.

Questions

Does it work when I'm away from home?

Yes, as long as your phone can reach the server's address, for example through a reverse proxy or a VPN you already run.

Do I need an account with Shuttle Music?

No. You sign in to your own server, and Shuttle Music has no account of its own.
