A music player for Android Auto
Your whole library on the car display, from your phone or your own server.
Shuttle Music supports Android Auto, so the music you already organised on your phone is there when you get in the car. You browse and play from the car's display or its steering-wheel controls, while the phone does the work. I make it on my own, and it has no ads.
Get going
- Install Shuttle Music and let it build your library, from local files or a Jellyfin, Emby or Plex server.
- Connect your phone to the car with Android Auto as usual.
- Open the media apps on the car display and choose Shuttle Music.
- Browse your library and start playing.
What works
- Browsing your library from the car display and starting playback.
- Play, pause and skip from the display and the car's controls.
- Music from files on your phone and from your server, in one library.
- Gapless playback and the same equalizer and ReplayGain settings you use elsewhere.
- A sleep timer, and Chromecast for when you're home.
Questions
Do I need to set anything up for Android Auto?
No separate setup in Shuttle Music. Connect your phone to the car as usual and choose Shuttle Music from the media apps.
Can I play my Jellyfin, Emby or Plex music in the car?
Yes. Streamed songs play like any other, so the phone needs a data connection.
